Summer is officially here and soon we’ll be celebrating the 4th of July. This made me think of freedom so I hit the internet and did a Google search for the word “Freedom” when I find there are about 61,100,000 results. This means there are a lot of people online talking about freedom.
Interesting to me that the site at the top of the list is – (the day I wrote this) was www.macfreedom.com. Reviewing the site I learn that Freedom is the world-famous app that locks you away from the net ‘so you can be productive’. The site offers an app to prevent you from surfing the net.
Mmmmmm that doesn’t sound like freedom in my book, it sounds like sounds like the opposite! How can one believe that restraints are a form of freedom? Whatever happened to personal empowerment, doing what we want, doing the right thing (whatever our right thing is), living the life of our dreams, accomplishing great things…… you get the picture.
Our friends at Dictionary.com have a much better definition of freedom:
1. the state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement or under physical restraint.
2. exemption from external control, interference, regulation, etc.
3. the power to determine action without restraint.
When I speak and coach I talk a lot about freedom, after all we live in an amazing country that is based on it. Our lives don’t have to be filled with restraint, confinement, or external control; they can and should be filled with freedom, specifically the freedom to do the things that allow us to live the life of our dreams.
We all can do or have just about anything we want; we simply have to go after it!
July 4th is a day to celebrate our FREEDOM. Get out there and pursue the happiness you were meant to have and enjoy this wonderful freedom we have in our FABULOUS COUNTRY!
